The last several days have been very busy and I want to take a minute and update you on what’s been going on with the campaign. Last Friday April and I participated in “Do Good Date Night”, a fundraiser event sponsored by Jack Surface and Kat Knox to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank. In two hours volunteers sorted and bagged enough food, and raised enough money to feed 13,000 people. Wow! What a great event! Since then, I have been spending time with fellow law enforcement and tactical team members from around the state at the Indiana SWAT Officer’s Association. Every year I volunteer time for this organization and have served as a District Representative for the past six years, and I was just re-elected to another two year term as a rep. A few of the guest instructors I assisted this week were Tony Sentmanat, world class firearms instructor and former Miami, FL SWAT member, Diego De Vera, entrepreneur, four-time world champion kickboxer and muay thai fighter. I also had the opportunity to meet and talk with Albert Mampre. Mr. Mampre is a WWII veteran and one of the few remaining members from Easy Company, 2ndBattalion, 506thParachute Infantry Regiment, 101stAirborne Division. His unit is the one depicted in the movie Band of Brothers. It was a true honor to meet an American hero of his caliber!
