The safety and security of you and your property is just as important to us as it is to you. As we enter the ‘dog days of summer’ and you’re planning a family vacation, or just a fun weekend away from home, I’d like to ask that you take a few extra precautions to secure your home before leaving:
-Make sure you tell a neighbor, friend or family member your vacation plans so they can watch your house while you’re gone.
-Leave a few lights on inside your home. Lights with timers work best for the inside of your house and motion detector lights are highly suggested for the exterior.
-If you live in the county feel free to notify dispatch the dates you’ll be gone and request that they put you on the security check list.
-And I always suggest that you wait until you get home before posting vacation pictures on social media. The less people that know you’re gone, the better.
I hope you and your family have a great summer! And remember, you’re always #SaferWithSkinner.
Through the week of July 2nd-6th you might hear my public service announcement over the radio (104.1 WLBC and 96.7 WBKQ). Didn’t hear it on the radio? No problem, you can listen to it right here.
